Why the name Christopher Camp?

When Grandpa Carl lived in Peterson Township, N.D. from 1903-1933, he was the newspaper correspondent for the Medina Citizen Newspaper. When he wrote about his own news he often referred to his homestead as the "Christopher Camp." As an example when referring to the arrival of his newest son, Carl wrote: "A young hunter arrived at the Christopher Camp, Sept 7th and the parents hope that he will stay at the camp at least 20 years."
